Estonian Foreign Minister Reacts To US Decision On Military Aid To Ukraine

Margus Tzahkna also called on the European Union to adopt a new package of sanctions against Russia.

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna (Eesti 200) has welcomed US President Donald Trump's decision to provide Ukraine with military aid, err.ee reported.

He said this is an important step that will speed up the delivery of vital support to Ukraine in coordination with NATO, the Foreign Ministry's press service reported.

Tsahkna noted that what Ukraine needs most urgently now is an effective and large-scale air defense system as Russia continues to step up attacks on civilians, cities and infrastructure. In July alone, according to his data, Russian forces used some 2,000 missiles and drones against Ukrainian population centers.

The minister emphasized that transatlantic cooperation remains key for a strong and coordinated response to Russian aggression, reaffirming the West's firm stance on Ukraine's side.

In addition, Margus Tzahkna called on the European Union to adopt a new, 18th package of sanctions against Russia, including lowering the ceiling on Russian oil prices. He also recalled the frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank worth about 260 billion euros in the EU and G7 countries and called for the use of these funds to help Ukraine until the aggression stops and the damage is repaired.

U.S. President Donald Trump earlier said that the amount of military aid to be sent to Ukraine through NATO would amount to billions of dollars.
