Astronauts From India, Poland And Hungary Have Returned From The ISS

A NASA veteran returned with them together.

SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft has successfully landed off the coast of California, completing the Axiom-4 mission. On board were astronauts from India, Poland, Hungary and the United States. The crew was led by 65-year-old Peggy Whitson, a former NASA astronaut on her fifth spaceflight, writes Reuters (translated by Charter97.org).

The capsule with four members of the mission, launched June 25, landed in the Pacific Ocean after a 22-hour return from the ISS. The landing took place at high temperatures due to friction against the atmosphere - the outside of the capsule reached temperatures of 1,927 °C.

For Poland, Hungary and India, it was the first manned flight to the ISS organized by the state space agencies. Indian pilot Shubhanshu Shukla is considered a contender for the future Gaganyaan mission. Slavos Uznanski represented the European Space Agency, and Tibor Kapu participated as part of Hungary's HUNOR program.

The participants brought back to Earth scientific samples collected from more than 60 experiments in weightless conditions.

The Axiom-4 mission was the fourth organized by Axiom Space with support from SpaceX. The company is developing a commercial orbital station that could replace the ISS once it is decommissioned by 2030.
