New Photos Of The Secret Nuclear Base In Osipovichi Have Surfaced

It's being built by the Russians.

Russia is beefing up its nuclear infrastructure amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and rising tensions with the West. According to Planet Labs satellite imagery obtained by Business Insider, large-scale construction is underway at five secret nuclear sites, one of which is in Belarus.

Approximately 8 kilometers east of Osipovichi is the 1405th Munitions Base, where, according to a photo analysis, a new, high-security, triple-layer fenced area has emerged in 2025.

At its northeast corner now stands a storage facility, likely intended for tactical nuclear charges. Entrance to the site is shielded from satellites, indicating increased secrecy.

Analyst Hans Christensen of the Federation of American Scientists also noted the construction of an unloading site and a new road that could connect the base to the railroad. Such a transportation hub is key to transporting nuclear warheads, which Russia typically transports by rail rather than air.

Another base exists in Osipovichi, according to investigators, and Iskander launchers are stationed there. They are capable of launching missiles with nuclear charges at a distance of up to 500 kilometers. According to Christensen, a garage for these launchers was built when Russia handed over the Iskanders to Belarus in late 2022.

By mid-2025, the base had expanded significantly: new buildings and storage facilities had appeared, and the images show wheel tracks of heavy vehicles, indicating active use.

Despite the infrastructural readiness, experts believe that the nuclear charges themselves are still on Russian territory, for example, in Bryansk. They can be delivered to the Belarusian territory if necessary. According to estimates, the main purpose of these facilities is to prepare the possibility for Russia to promptly deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.
