Zelensky Appointed Ukraine's New Defense Minister

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has signed a document appointing former Prime Minister Denis Shmygal as the country's defense minister. He announced this in his Telegram channel.
The document, according to Zelensky, has already been sent to the Verkhovna Rada, which must approve or reject the nomination.
On July 16, the Rada approved the resignation of Shmygal from the post of prime minister, along with him in the full government left.
Zelensky said that the management of strategic industries will be carried out through the Ministry of Defense. "Ukroboronprom will be headed by German Smetanin.
"The task is very specific and clear. Now Ukrainian weapons on the front, in all our operations, about 40%. <...> But we need more," he wrote.
The president also noted that Ukraine should reach 50% of the arms of its own production in the first six months of the new government by increasing the output of weapons.
