A sum has been named.
The European Union in the long-term budget for 2028-2034 planned 100 billion euros to support Ukraine. The money will be put into the Ukraine Facility.
This was reported by "European Pravda" citing a statement by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
"We are allocating 100 billion euros for Ukraine," von der Leyen said during the presentation of the draft budget.
She noted that the "Ukraine Fund" from which Ukraine was being assisted had 50 billion euros. But these amounts are decreasing.
"These amounts are slowly but surely decreasing, and that is why we are proposing 100 billion euros to fill the fund again for Ukraine to support the reconstruction," she explained.
It should be noted that the decision is not final. After the draft budget is made public, the European Parliament and the European Council should take a position on it. In general, the long-term budget is planned to be approved by the end of 2027.
What is the Ukraine Facility
Ukraine Facility is a financial instrument of the European Union aimed at supporting Ukraine in the conditions of war and post-war reconstruction. The program provides 50 billion euros for Ukraine for the period 2024-2027.
The money is spent on macro-financial assistance, reconstruction, reforms and modernization of the country. They come as grants and loans, and their use is monitored through a special mechanism of reporting and evaluation of the progress of reforms.
EU will finance weapons for Ukraine
Reminder that the United States and NATO have concluded an agreement that provides for sending American weapons to Ukraine at the expense of European countries. Thus, Ukraine will receive 10 billion dollars worth of American weapons at the expense of Europe.
Some countries, in particular Sweden, Denmark and Germany, have already agreed to make their contribution. At the same time, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Italy and France will not join the initiative.
