We managed to take out all the criminals in one salvo.
In the village of Korenevo, Kursk region, about 17 kilometers from the front line, Ukrainian intelligence detected significant activity of the Russian military. The result of the strike on the Russian concentration exceeded all expectations.
It turned out that it was in Korenevo that the enemy deployed the forward control center of its most capable unit in the direction - the 155th Marine Brigade - to attack Sumshchina. Moreover, it was from this point that the actual commander of the strike group in Kurshchina - Deputy Commander of the Navy of the Russian Armed Forces Major General Mikhail Gudkov, known under the call sign Varyag - led the offensive.
The list of Russian officers liquidated in Korenevo, as currently established from Russian sources:
- Deputy Commander of the Russian Navy - Commander of the Coastal and Land Forces of the Russian Navy, Major-General M. Gudkov;
- Deputy Commander of the Coastal and Land Forces of the Russian Navy, Colonel N. Shikhaliev;
- commander of the 155th Marine Brigade Colonel S. Ilyin;
- Chief of Staff of the 155th Brigade Colonel L. Bashkadin;
- the commander of the 1st battalion of the 155th Brigade Lieutenant Colonel I. Zakirov.
At the same time, the brigade's artillery chief, the brigade's air defense chief, the brigade's communications chief, and the brigade's UAV service chief were eliminated. Together with the service chiefs, most of their assistants were also eliminated. Total losses - about 20 killed, 30 wounded servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces.
Thereby, the headquarters of the Russian Marine Brigade and the leadership of the strike group and land forces of the Russian Navy were completely eliminated. The Russian offensive on this section of the front was paralyzed for some time, and the control of troops on the section was lost.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that Gudkov pointed Ukrainian missiles at his headquarters.
On February 27, 2024, Gudkov organized a group of soldiers of the 155th Brigade in the village of Yelenovka, Donetsk region, to personally present awards to their best fighters and commanders. Two HIMARS rockets flew across the formation, resulting in 19 Russian occupiers being killed and 12 wounded. Among the wounded was Gudkov himself, but he then managed to survive. Lieutenant Colonel Roman Kozhukhov, deputy commander of the 155th Brigade, and other officers of the brigade were eliminated. And now it was possible to cover all the criminals in one salvo.
42-year-old Gudkov was personally appointed to this position by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in March 2025, until then he commanded the same 155th Marine Brigade, it was Putin who set the task to raise the combat effectiveness of the Russian Navy. The 155th brigade became famous for its war crimes - Gudkov gave orders to execute civilians of Bucha, Irpen and Gostomel from the very beginning of the war. His brigade and bloggers associated with it then repeatedly posted videos of the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war. Gudkov did this deliberately to make his soldiers not surrender as well for fear of retaliation from the Ukrainians. Gudkov himself, of course, did not go to the attacks and did not come closer than 15-20 kilometers to the front. But the Ukrainians have learned to punish Russian criminals for looting, banditry, shootings, and Gudkov could not escape punishment.
No less interesting than the liquidation of Gudkov himself is the political resonance and information squabbles between supporters of the Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov and his opponents.
Putin elevated Gudkov to a position much higher than any other Russian brigade commander, and from that position Gudkov could well have become a rival to Valery Gerasimov as chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. But now he won't. According to a report by Gerasimov's critic, Russian Z-blogger Alexei Romanov, General Sukhrab Akhmedov, who had a bad relationship with Gudkov, has been appointed acting commander of the Russian Navy's coastal and ground forces. Romanov thus directly hinted that information about Gudkov's whereabouts was leaked to the Ukrainians by the Russian military leadership.
In response, Gerasimov's supporter - Russia's chief propagandist Vladimir Solovyov accused several bloggers close to Gudkov, in particular Vladimir Grubnik, of being the ones who handed over to the 155th Brigade a batch of radios through which the Ukrainians could gain access to the communication system.
However, the enemy was unable to establish the sources of the leaked information. All the more, it is worth mentioning with high awards all the servicemen of the Ukrainian Defense Forces who eliminated high-ranking war criminals and dealt such a heavy blow to the enemy.
