The regime's actions will not be without consequences.
Russian missiles hitting Ukrainian civilian targets (including the Okhmatdet hospital, power plants, residential neighborhoods and schools) are equipped with Belarusian-made components.
What does this threaten Lukashenko's regime? The website Charter97.org talked about it with Ukrainian political scientist, professor of Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University Peter Oleshchuk:
- I will start with the fact that the strike on "Okhmatdet" is one of the most painful appearances of this war. This strike cannot be qualified otherwise as a terrorist act, since the Russian Federation had no other goals but terrorist ones. Therefore, of course, Ukraine cannot turn a blind eye to such actions.
This is an additional fact in the piggy bank of Lukashenko's regime's involvement in the crimes of Putin's regime. Although, of course, we all realize that he is an accomplice since 2022, when Russian wars were invaded from the territory of Belarus.
At that, again, the question arises why this fact was made public now. I think it is an unnecessary reminder to Lukashenko that in general everything is fixed, everyone knows and understands.
The point is that recently such a phenomenon as the flight of "Shaheds" through the territory of Belarus to Ukraine has begun to be observed. For a long time it did not happen.
In the beginning of the war, there were missiles flying through the territory of Belarus and shelling in general, and then it stopped for a while and pseudo-neutrality was postulated. But now the situation has changed and again the territory of Belarus is used for shelling Ukraine.
This is done by Russia not by chance, but in order to involve Lukashenko's regime in the war more strongly. But at the same time, again, I think that Ukraine cannot just watch all this. Ukraine is pointing out to Lukashenko that this could have consequences for him.
Ukraine has a very strong track record on the part of the SBU in hitting refineries in Russia. They are much more remote than the Mozyr refinery. Belarusian refineries, are quite close to Ukrainian territory. We could well carry out strikes.
Also, Ukraine could carry out strikes on enterprises that produce some components for the Russian armed forces, but, naturally, Ukraine is not interested in escalating the war.
But it is obvious that, again, such an option cannot be excluded if Belarus continues to be involved in the war.
I emphasize that here, on the one hand, it is an indication that everything is fixed, on the other hand, it is an indication that no one has forgotten anything.
No action of Lukashenko's regime will remain without consequences.
