Railway Service Paralyzed In Russia After AFU Drone Raid

New details about the attack on Moscow and the Rostov region.

Last night and in the morning of July 19, the AFU massively attacked Russian regions, including the Rostov region, where railway traffic was paralyzed due to Ukrainian drone strikes. According to Russian Railways, the contact network on the Likhaya-Zamchalovo crossing was damaged due to falling UAV debris. Train traffic was stopped at about six in the morning, more than 50 long-distance trains were delayed.

Three hours later, the Russian Railways reported about the restoration of movement of some trains on diesel locomotive traction, a little later the movement on the Likhaya-Zamchalovo crossing was "opened on electric traction on two tracks".

Restoration work continues, the Russian Railways reported. An operational headquarters has been set up under the leadership of the head of the monopoly Oleg Belozerov.

Passengers of the delayed trains, some of which have been standing on the tracks for 3-7 hours, began to complain in chat rooms about the intense heat, non-working air conditioners and lack of air, RusNews reports. People write that it is stuffy at the station itself (the temperature in Rostov region now exceeds 30 degrees Celsius), and in the air-conditioned waiting area all the seats are occupied. "We have been sitting in the carriage since 23:56. The air conditioning is off, like in a sauna. The windows are open, but it doesn't help," complain passengers. "All the boards with delays, it is impossible to breathe," they write in chats about the situation at the station.

The head of the region Yuri Slyusar confirmed the problems with the railroad connection. "Freight and passenger trains are de-energized at the Likhoy station due to a broken power line. On this section organized reverse train traffic, there was a delay in the schedule," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

The official specified that as a result of the AFU drone attack on Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, a female railroad employee was injured, she was hospitalized in a condition of medium severity. A number of fires broke out in several districts. In Kamensk district, a high-voltage line failed due to a fire, and about 2,000 people from five settlements were left without power supply.

From 18:15 on July 18 to 8:30 Moscow time on July 19, Russian air defense forces destroyed 170 Ukrainian drones, including in the Moscow region, the Defense Ministry reported. In the Rostov region, 32 targets were shot down during that time.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported in his Telegram channel that 13 AFU drones were shot down last night on the approach to the capital. Air defense worked in Zelenograd, Istrinsky, Dmitrovsky, Solnechnogorsky and other districts of the Moscow region.
