Trump Said BRICS Has Started To "fade Away" Rapidly
Donald Trump

The U.S. president's threats worked.

US President Donald Trump said that the BRICS alliance has started to "fade away" after he threatened to impose additional duties of 10% against the member countries of the association. He made this statement while speaking to reporters, CNN reported.

He said the BRICS countries wanted to challenge the dollar. Trump emphasized that he decided to act because of that.

"There is this little group called BRICS. It's rapidly 'fading away,' but the point is they wanted to try to undermine the dollar, its dominance ... And I said: "To all the BRICS countries, we're going to impose a 10% duty," he told reporters.

Trump added that after his threats, the BRICS countries held a meeting that "almost nobody attended."

"They said, 'Leave us alone.' We don't want duties imposed on us.' That's terrific," the US president said.
