The fugitive oligarch's political force has been banned.
Moldova's Central Election Commission has refused to register the Victory bloc for the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 28, RIA Novosti reported. The decision was made on Saturday by a majority vote. The grounds for the refusal were revealed violations in the documents submitted on July 14, as well as non-compliance with the requirements of the electoral legislation.
The Pobeda - Victorie bloc is a pro-Russian opposition political coalition in Moldova, established on April 21, 2024 in Moscow. The coalition's founder and leader is Ilan Shor, a fugitive oligarch under investigation in Moldova, who fled to Russia and obtained citizenship there.
The bloc's executive secretary is the head of Gagauzia, Eugenia Gutsul, who is charged in a case of illegal financing of the Shor party, which nominated Gutsul for the bashkan elections. According to the investigation, Eugenia Gutsul in 2019-2022, being the secretary of the party "Shor", took money from Russia to Moldova.
The main idea of the bloc "Victory" - criticism of the "pro-Western" course of Moldova, promotion of the ideas of Eurasian integration and joining the EAEU, proclamation of union with Russia, including possible entry into federalization with Gagauzia and Transnistria.
