Aliyev openly supported Ukraine.
Russian pro-war Telegram channels have reacted sharply to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's advice to Ukrainians to "never agree to occupation." Authors of z-blogs wrote that Baku is "following in Ukraine's footsteps" and conflict with Azerbaijan "in one form or another is inevitable," "Agency" writes.
Aliyev on Saturday at a media forum in the city of Shusha answered a question from Ukrainian blogger Dmytro Gordon: what he "as the leader of a victorious nation could advise Ukraine and Ukrainians." The Azerbaijani president said that he advises "never to surrender and never to accept the violation of territorial integrity." Also during the speech, Aliyev said Baku was "preparing a portfolio of documents to submit to the international judicial system" over the crash of an AzAl airliner that crashed in Kazakhstan after likely being hit by an air defense missile over Grozny.
A number of z-channels wrote after Aliyev's statements about the need to prepare for a possible war with Azerbaijan. Provost blogger Alexei Zhivov (113,000 subscribers) assessed the statements of the Azerbaijani president as "openly hostile" and wrote that "the Caspian Sea may soon become another theater of military operations."
The channel "Zapiski Veteran" (321,000 subscribers) wrote that "Baku is rapidly turning into a NATO branch and is consciously following in the footsteps of Ukraine." The channel's authors saw in Azerbaijan's transition from the Russian to the international coordinate system (the relevant decree of Aliyev also became known on Saturday) "a veiled signal that Azerbaijan is preparing for war with Russia."
"Inevitable" conflict with Baku was called by z-blogger Semen Pegov (WarGonzo channel; 898 thousand subscribers). "Azerbaijan has openly and publicly taken a Russophobic stance. And the sooner we start preparing for this conflict, the better," Pegov wrote.
According to z-blogger Yuri Podolyaki (3.1 million subscribers), Aliyev "has taken the line on escalation" and "only the force shown to him can make him turn from it." "The state of Azerbaijan for Russia today is not only not a friendly country, but also a geopolitical adversary," Podolyaka wrote. The pro-war blogger called on the Russian Foreign Ministry to "step aside and put the cards in the hands of our Interior Ministry first, and then, if necessary, the Defense Ministry."
The Telegram channel "Pozdnyakov 3.0" (188,000 subscribers) published a call on Saturday evening: "'Nutshell' on the center of Baku."
Some z-channels took a more restrained view of Aliyev's statements. The channel "Archangel of Special Forces" (1.1 million subscribers) wrote that "it is time to reconsider relations with this country [Azerbaijan]." And "Two Majors" (1.2 million subscribers) called to stop "exporting agricultural products from Azerbaijan." "Let the freight cars with tomatoes at the border start stinking from the heat, and let them hear this stench in Baku," the channel's authors wrote.
