Poland Completes Electronic Barrier Along The Border With Belarus

Poland has completed the construction of an electronic barrier along the entire border with Belarus. This was reported on July 21 by Wprost with reference to Polish Minister of Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak.

He said the country has allocated 2.6 million zlotys ($700 thousand) to protect the border with Belarus. To ensure security in the zone, 11 thousand servicemen were sent.

Semoniak said that the effectiveness of repelling illegal attempts to cross the border thanks to the support of the military and modern infrastructure has reached 98%.

In addition, the Minister announced the expansion of border control, referring also to temporary control at the borders with Germany and Lithuania. Earlier, Lithuania called such a decision by Poland a "temporary capitulation".
