US President Donald Trump neither confirmed nor denied the possibility of meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Beijing. The topic was broached by journalists during the meeting between the American leader and the Philippine president at the White House. The broadcast was carried by C-Span.

"Many meetings are possible," Trump said.

The US president said he was invited by Chinese President Si Jinping and intends to come in the "not too distant future." A decision on the matter will be made soon.

A possible meeting between Putin, Trump and Xi in China in September was reported the other day by The Times. According to its reports, the meeting could be timed to coincide with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

"Our president is preparing for this trip. It's on the schedule. But we have not heard that President Trump is going there as well," the Kremlin commented on the potential meeting.
