Now is not the time to cut it back.
17 members of the US Congress are demanding that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reverse the decision to freeze ammunition and weapons supplies to Ukraine. Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal - the author of the letter signed by the congressmen - is convinced that now is not the time to cut U.S. aid.
"We must respond to Putin's brutal attack with the weapons Ukraine needs to defend itself," he wrote on Platform X.
The letter, which was signed by the congressmen, states that supplies have now been stopped:

Patriot anti-aircraft missiles (PAC-3);
155mm artillery shells;
GMLRS rounds for HIMARS;
Stinger MANPADS;
AIM-7 Sparrow air-to-air missiles and AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-ground missiles.
The lawmakers are also asking Hegseth to hold a private briefing by the end of the month and provide written answers to the following questions:
What specific weapons and munitions scheduled for delivery to Ukraine have been suspended as a result of this decision?
Where exactly are these munitions being diverted?
Are other munitions scheduled to be diverted? If so, where?
The Defense Ministry estimates how long Ukraine can maintain its current rate of consumption of these munitions before its stockpile is depleted?"
"Mr. Secretary, peace through force requires us to use our force.
Ukraine's fight for freedom is not a hypothetical issue. It is happening right now, and we must stand with them by providing the weapons needed to defend
We urge you to reverse this decision and transfer the balance of the $3.8 billion in aid already provided under the President's weapons removal authority, as well as the remaining $300 million allocated under the Ukraine Assistance Security Initiative," the letter reads.
The signatories note that Congress is willing to provide funding to replenish ammunition stockpiles to prepare for future conflicts.
