Maritime Drones Attacked A Russian Navy Base In Novorossiysk

The strike was a combination strike.

Marine drones attacked a Russian navy base in Novorossiysk, Charter97.org reported, citing Ukrainian and Russian Telegram channels.

Novorossiysk in Russia's Krasnodar region was under a combined attack by marine drones and drones overnight and in the morning of July 6. Russians complain that an air alert was sounded in the city for several hours, gunfire was heard, and air defense systems were operating. The occupiers have already dubbed the attack a "bomb morning." In the crosshairs of the drones were ships of the Russian Navy, which escaped here from occupied Crimea.

According to Russian blogs and a statement by Novorossiysk Mayor Andrei Kravchenko, the region was massively attacked by unmanned boats from the water and drones from the sky.

The first air alert sounded around midnight. Locals heard the sounds of explosions and the work of air defense. Russian air defenses were working in a heightened mode.

Russians complain that the latest attack came as part of a broader campaign to destroy a fleet of enemy ships that Ukraine is systematically carrying out.

The aftermath of the attack is unknown. Meanwhile, social media complained of loud explosions and gunfire.

Which ships were stationed at the Novorossiysk base

Today, several key combat units of Russia's Black Sea Fleet are stationed in Novorossiysk Bay.

Diesel-electric submarines of the Varshavyanka project, capable of launching Kalibr-type cruise missiles (6-8 units on each boat). According to open sources, at least three such subs are deployed in the port at the same time.

Admiral-class frigates, including the Admiral Makarov and Admiral Essen, also armed with Kalibr missiles and regularly used in operations against Ukraine.

Small missile ships of the Buyan-M type. As of 2023, the Black Sea Fleet had four such ships, some of which are on duty between Novorossiysk and the Sea of Azov.
