The dead include the director and children from the summer camp.
Central Texas is suffering from massive flooding that has already claimed the lives of at least 51 people.
According to Axios.
The disaster struck suddenly - among the victims are many children who were at a private girls' camp near the Guadalupe River.
What is known
The flooding began on the morning of July 4 near the Guadalupe River, 100 kilometers northwest of San Antonio.
The heavy rainfall caused the water to rapidly overflow its banks, flooding camps, roads and residential areas. Kerr, Travis, Burnet and Kendall counties were hardest hit.
In Kerr County, where the private Mystic Girls Camp is located, the bodies of 43 people were found dead. Of those, 12 adults and five children have not yet been identified.
There are still 27 girls missing from the camp.
Local authorities also confirmed eight other deaths in neighboring counties:
4 in Travis County (Austin)
3 in Burnet County
1 in Kendall County
The dead include Camp Mystic director Dick Eastland and three girls ages 8-9: Lila Bonner, Jenny Hunt and Sarah Marsh.
What the authorities are saying
"I saw with my own eyes dozens of body bags at the funeral home. It's heartbreaking," said Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly.
U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Christy Noem has promised to upgrade the early warning system.
Rescue operations continue. Search teams are bringing in dogs, drones and aircraft. The rain has not stopped, and the water level in some areas continues to rise.
Water levels reached 8 meters in Texas in just 45 minutes, washing away roads and washing away even ambulances. In some places, the water reached nearly 9 meters.
On July 5, county sheriff Larry Leita told an evening news conference that more than 230 people had been evacuated or rescued during Friday, many by helicopters.
