WSJ: Trump Assured Zelensky That The U.S. Will Help Ukraine "as Much As It Can"
Vladimir Zelensky and Donald Trump

The Pentagon has been tasked with reviewing ammunition stockpiles.

United States of America (US) President Donald Trump, during a phone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky, assured the latter of Washington's continued support.

This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

According to people familiar with the leaders' conversation, Trump told Zelensky that he had ordered a review of the Pentagon's ammunition stockpile after the U.S. attacked Iranian nuclear facilities last month, but did not order the Defense Department to freeze arms shipments to Ukraine.

As the WSJ recalls, the call came after the U.S. leader acknowledged frustration and lack of progress on a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia during phone talks with dictator Vladimir Putin on Thursday, July 3.

"Trump assured Zelensky that the U.S. would provide as much military aid as it could, the sources said. But the delivery remains on hold, according to a Pentagon spokesman," the WSJ adds.
