The tests came with a "surprise".
Russia's new Altair drone was tested in Tatarstan. The drone lost control and attacked an apartment building and burned it to the ground. The tests of the new UAV were reported in the Ukrainian telegram channel DroneBomber.
"Probably the Altair UAV fell on a residential house during a test flight in Kazan," the report said.
The investigators of the In Factum project are also inclined to believe that it was the Altair that "landed" on a house in Kazan.
"Meanwhile, the Russians have lost another promising UAV with a long flight time. This time it's the Altius ("Altair"). The first was the S-70 Okhotnik," the report said.
The Altair UAV is claimed to be Russia's most advanced long-range reconnaissance drone. It can carry missiles and bombs weighing up to 1 ton. It is also intended for combat operations and is a kind of analog of the American MQ-9 Reaper.
