The former official responded to the dictator's fascination with goats.
Lukashenka visited a goat breeding plant near Mogilev. He immediately came up with another "fruitful" debut idea. If goat breeding is such a promising and profitable business, why hasn't it been done before? With such a question "Salidarnasts" addressed to the former official, entrepreneur Nikolai Lysenkov:
- Why, we used to do it, goat and sheep breeding are traditional branches for Belarusians, except that in recent years this tradition has disappeared. And in the past there were always goats and sheep in the villages, just not in collective farms, but by the peasants themselves.
It was in the Soviet Union, when it was necessary to get more food and at the same time cheaper, cattle breeding came to the forefront. Because goat milk is healthier and better digested, but its production is more expensive. And the demand in the post-war years was for cheap food, and it was more efficient to keep cows, so goat breeding was abandoned.
Lukashenko is mentally just a Soviet collective farmer. He has never seen a goat in a collective farm, so he was not interested in goat breeding.
Now he will start to "develop" the industry and problems will appear. As it already happened with potatoes, or, as he said himself, "if you take up eggs, the milk is gone".
