First Case: Turkey Blocked Grok By Ilon Musk

For insulting Erdogan.

The artificial intelligence chatbot Grok developed by xAI Ilon Musk has been blocked in Turkey. The reason is insulting answers about President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

It was reported by Reuters.

A Turkish court on Wednesday ordered to restrict access to some of the content of Grok, a chatbot by xAI, a company created by Ilon Musk.

According to the country's authorities, the artificial intelligence allegedly generated insulting responses to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the founder of the Turkish Republic Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and religious values.

The Ankara Prosecutor General's Office announced the launch of an official investigation. This is the country's first case of blocking AI content by law. Under Turkish law, insulting the president, Ataturk or religion is a criminal offense that can be punishable by up to four years in prison.

Local media reports said Grok allegedly generated controversial answers when it was asked questions in Turkish. The blocking decision was made after a request from the Information Technology Authority (BTK).

There has been no comment from Company X or Ilon Musk yet.
